PreVIEW your messages and
process them before download
If you are finding it hard to get removed from
mailing lists or are tired of getting junk email from unknown
sources? You can make spammers think you no longer exist by bouncing
back their email so it looks like your address has been closed.
MailWasher
(we use this)
SpamBuster
compares the email message, header information,
sender, and size to the spam settings you've defined to see if the
message is spam. Then Spam Buster even checks the sender against a
blacklist of known spammers. Spam Buster
requires a POP3 email account such as provided from a local internet
service provider and does not support proprietary email such as AOL
SpamKiller
can filter any number of e-mail accounts for you. It's
designed to be as unobtrusive as possible, so most of the time you
won't even remember that it's there. The
program comes with a large number of preset filters. These aren't
just a list of e-mail addresses, but are based on careful analysis
of tens of thousands of spams.
MailShell offers a free
30-day trial. $29.95 per year. Use unlimited email
addresses.
Protect your PC from Hackers &
Viruses
With the recent
attacks from the Red Code
viruses, there
have been tremendous increase in attempts on personal computers.
Sometimes, the attacks come from within when you download software and
it communicates with an outside source. Protect yourself by
installing a personal firewall. ZoneAlarm Pro provides world-class
protection against Internet-borne threats like worms, Trojan horses,
and spyware.
http://www.zonelabs.com/
Scan your PC for viruses and get continuous virus
protection 24 hours, 7 days a week — whether you're connected to the
Internet or not. If a virus is found, you can fix or delete the
infected file. See
McAfee.com
Hackers comb the Internet looking for vulnerable computers,
in some cases trying to steal credit-card numbers and personal
information. Home firewall software such as… ZoneAlarm Pro can fend off these
attacks
Got a Website? Protect it...
Webmasters, protect your email
address from being leeched from your website by converting it to
unicode. Most automated email leeching programs look for MAILTO tags
and properly formatted email addresses. By converting your email
address to unicode, these programs aren't able to detect your email
address. See an
online utility.
